On 25 January 2010, A Virtual Memorial Foundation joint NewMediaFest’2010 and launched a new media art context on occasion of 27 January 2010 - International Holocaust Day - 65th return of the Liberation of Auschwitz, entitled. Draft Title: Shoah v.1.0 –> http://dts.engad.org/shoah-index.html
a new unique initiative by A Virtual Memorial Foundation & VideoChannel in the framework of NewMediaFest’2010 to encourage young generations of artists and filmmakers to refelect the context of Shoah and contribute, this way, against the forgetting. This new collection starts with 34 films and videos, most of them created especially for SFC, which already indicates, that artists take the challenge reflecting Holocaust/Shoah in an artistic way to visualize the “impossible”. That it is possible in contemporary artistic expressions shows the works feature in SFC impressingly.
SFC will be the Feature of the Month “February 2010″ on NewMediaFest’2010, and VAD - Video Art Database will feature the included works during February for one day.
During 2010, A Virtual Memorial will become part of NewMediaFest’2010 - 10 Years [NewMediaArtprojectNetwork]:||cologne - global heritage of digital culture.
For 27 January 2010, A Virtual Memorial will prepare a special feature on occasion of 65th return of the Liberation of the Concentration Camp of Auschwitz, including the launch of SFC - Shoah Film Collection - a unique initiative aimed to encourage young artists and directors to work on the topic of SHOAH and related themes.
During the entire year, the most important projects realized in the framework of A Virtual Memorial during the past 11 years will be spotlighted as a part of NewMediaFest’2010 and will be made available again to a larger audience.
After reviewing the submissions made on the open call until 30 September 2009 on Draft Title: Shoah (DTS), the curators of DTS decided to create a database for artistic projects on the topic of SHOAH, i.e. DAS- Database of Art projects on the topic of SHOAH
Compared with other databases initiated by The NETWORK, DAS - Database will be accessible only via membership and password.
A Virtual Memorial & VideoChannel will launch SFC - Shoah Film Collection on 27 January 2010 on occasion of 65th return of the Liberation of Concentration Camp Auschwitz as a part of NewMediaFest’2010
Draft Title: SHOAH European Media Art Exhibition for Peace and Reconciliation -
is the title of a media art project planned by A Virtual Memorial & VideoChannel primarily for the exhibition in physical space including a strong online component. The project will be realised in 2010/2011, the inauguration is provisionally foreseen for November 2010 either in Berlin or Cologne followed by a tour through several European countries.
In 2001, Agricola de Cologne started the “Family Portrait”, an online art work spotlighting diasporadic course of life of the Partnoy family, in which Raquel, her daughter Alicia and Granddaughter Ruth play the main roles, a project which was completed in 2005 in the framework MOSAICA Award 2005, whose winner was “Family Portrait”.
In 2003, Agricola started the next collaboration with Raquel Partnoy in “Women: Memory of Repression in Argentina“, an online art work which was realised in 2004 in the framework of the global networking project [R][R][F]200x—>XP. This project is dedicated to the ten thousand of disappeared people who vanshied without any traces during the military regimes in Argentina during 50ies and 70 of 20th century, and the Mother of Plaza de Mayo, who fighted against by demonstrating.
In 2009, another collaboration starts in a project which, again, is dealing with the position, situation and presecution of women, this time focussing on another Latin American country, i.e Guatemala, where during the military ruling thousands of women were killed in a so -called “femicide”. The titel of the project is referring to this—>Women: Femicide in Guatemala.
incorporating many testimonies and documents by Guamaltecan women who brought the case of the femicide to a broader public and attendance only short time ago.
